About

WASP's

Based at Richardson Park in South Perth (opposite the Perth Zoo), Wesley South Perth Hockey Club (known as WASP’s) is one of Perth’s premier hockey clubs and has a long and proud history dating back to its original inception over 90 years ago (in 1933).

WASP's caters to hockey players of all ages and abilities, and currently has over 700 registered playing members. We have players and teams representing the club in the majority of age groups and divisions, including in the annual winter season through our club-run Minkey and Grads programs (at Richardson Park) and Hockey WA's Junior and Senior competitions (on both grass and synthetic turf arcross metropolitan Perth), as well and indoor sides and junior teams particpating in a range of other competitions through the year. For seniors, this includes teams ranging from the ultra-competitive Premier League (we have both men’s & women’s Premier 1 sides), Provisional (turf) grades, Metro (grass) grades and Masters (over 35's through to over 50’s). Across our junior program, we have multiple sides in each of the 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 and 11/12 age group leagues.

With our own licensed clubrooms at Richardson Park, and a range of club-wide social events throughout the year, WASP’s provides a friendly environment in which to both play hockey and socialise and engage with other members and our families.

We are always keen to welcome new members to our club, so if you are interested in finding out more and/or in joining please contact the appropriate Junior or Senior Vice President (contact details can be found here).

One Club, One Home

As we continue to grow, the club's need for a combined co-located home for all of our members (catering for all members from minkey through to masters, and everyone in between) will only increase. In this regard, the club is committed to continuing to explore avenues for a pathway to achieve a turf/grass/clubroom facility for our club in the City of South Perth and are also concurrently engaging with HockeyWA with respect to the future Australian High Performance Hockey Centre development at Curtin - albeit noting that this will not provide for the co-location of all of our members as that development will not provide grass grounds for our minkey or junior and senior grass sides.
